Navigation for the Blind

The Iphone is opening new doors to the blind everyday.  From helping identify items at the grocery store, to checking the color of a shirt, new ideas are becoming reality.    

This morning I read the following article about integrating an Iphone app with navigating the streets of Golden Valley, minnesota.  The basic premise of the application is that a blind person could activate the "cross street" button at a crosswalk.  In addition you  could receive information on how  many lanes to cross and the street you are crossing.  all and all some pretty amazing stuff.
