Rap Influences

Even though Rap isn't my cup of tea, I do not agree w/ Jimmy Kimmel when he asks "what does Karl Malone call rap?"  In deference to Gil Scott-Heron, who is acknowledged as the godfather of rap and an equally influential figure behind hip-hop, I wonder where this Mickey Hart rant originated or was influenced.  I had heard Scott-Heron's "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" growing up as well as other of his vocal over music rants, but you have to wonder about the inspiration behind this "Fire on the Mountain" vocal over music gem.  Hope you enjoy.
